Reumofan Tablets Recalled Due to Undeclared Drug Ingredients

April 1, 2013

The FDA recently released a report stating that the Reumofan Plus tablets are being recalled because they contain the undeclared active pharmaceutical ingredients of methocarbomol, dexamethasone, and diclofenac. The company is advising that use of this product could result in serious and life-threatening injuries or illness. Seattle Medical Negligence Attorney, Bill Savage, can advise you if you should file a claim if you have developed an injury or illness from use of this substance.

The FDA report states that Reumofan Plus is used as a treatment for muscle pain, arthritis, osteoporosis, bone cancer and other conditions. This product comes in thirty (30) tablet containers and is packaged in a green and gold box. The tablets were distributed as a natural supplement. Reumofan Plus was distributed nationwide through Internet sales. This type of dietary supplement is not monitored under the same FDA regulations as prescription drugs. The tablets are manufactured in Mexico by Riger Naturals and sold in the United States by Samantha Lynn, Inc.

Reports of Stroke and Death Caused by Reumofan

The first alert was released by the FDA in June of 2012 reporting that Reumofan may cause stroke, severe bleeding, liver problems, kidney issues, high blood sugar levels, corticosteroid withdrawal syndrome or even death.

  • Methocarbomol, one of the unlisted ingredients, is a prescription muscle relaxer that can lower blood pressure, and cause impaired mental and physical abilities, sedation and dizziness.
  • Dexamethasone, another unlisted substance, is an anti-inflammatory and immune system suppressant.
  • Diclofenac, the last unlisted ingredient, is also a prescription anti-inflammatory drug that is known to increase the risk of stroke, heart attack, gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration, and fatal perforation of the stomach and intestines.

Any persons who are currently taking or have just stopped taking Ruemofan Plus Tablets should visit a doctor as soon as possible. If you have not already stopped taking the substance, you should stop immediately. The remaining tablets can be returned and the company will replace the pills with another approved natural supplement.
