The popular TLC show, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, has recently been canceled by the network after allegations of child sex abuse impacting one of the cast members were brought light.
According to the latest news about this child sex abuse scandal, the matriarch of the family – “Mama” June Shannon – started dating a man who alleged sexually assaulted one of Shannon’s daughters when she was only eight years old.
Victim of Alleged Child Sex Abuse Comes Forward to Protect Her Sisters
While Shannon has vehemently denied these reports of a child sex abuse scandal in the media, her daughter, the alleged victim – Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, who is now 20 years old, has come forward. In fact, Cardwell has told various media outlets that she was indeed victimized by Mama Shannon’s reported boyfriend Mark McDaniels about a decade ago. As Cardwell has explained, she was not only the victim of child sex abuse at the hands of McDaniel, but her younger sister (who was three at the time of the alleged abuse) was forced to watch the incident.
McDaniels was recently released from incarceration for a conviction stemming from another child sex abuse case that is unrelated to Cardwell. While Cardwell’s case was reportedly dismissed years ago and the statute of limitations for her to pursue justice in civil court has now expired, Cardwell has come forward to try to protect her other younger sisters from the same victimization as she allegedly endured.
At this time, it’s unclear if the local child protective services are conducting its own investigation into McDaniels’ potential contact with Shannon’s still minor daughters, including 9-year-old Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Shannon.
